About this Episode
Hart-Parr promoted their light-weight Hart-Parr 12-24 as a powerful light-weight tractor that could pull itself up by its bootstrap. The “bootstraps test” was a wooden framework and a series of cables tied to the tractor frame and around the rear wheel. When the tractor was put in reverse, it would life itself off the ground.
This became a popular attraction at different tractor events across the United States. Gerold Mettler of South Dakota collects the light-weight Hart-Parr tractors including a 12-24 model. He shares his passion for these tractors and the history of several pieces from his collection.
