In 1918 William Durant of General Motors purchased the Samson Tractor Company of Stockton, California to compete with Henry Ford in the tractor market. It’s estimated that General Motors lost some 33 million dollars in its battle with Henry Ford. The Samson company lasted from about 1918 to 1922. Tom Cullimore is a bit of a Samson historian and a Samson collector. Tom owns a one of a kind special built Samson tractor designed for use in the Louisiana cane fields. It might be the first special use tractor and first ever high crop tractor ever built! Tom share the story on this tractor and his passion for Samson tractors.
