These August 1939 photos show William Rall and his Family in Sheridan County, Kansas. William was a farmer and client of the Farm Security Administration. The Farm Security Administration was a New Deal agency created in 1937 to combat rural poverty during the Great Depression. Photographs were taken by Russel Lee (1903-1986).
These photos are from the Library of Congress, Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information Black and White Negatives collection. The collection includes about 175,000 black and white film negatives taken from 1935 to 1944. Its an amazing look into our past and a wonderful resource for historians.
